A 24-hour curfew has been imposed on Damaturu, Yobe State capital,
following Monday’s attacks on the town by insurgents. Governor Ibrahim
Gaidam in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information, Abdullahi
Bego said the curfew takes immediate effect. The statement said the
governor approved the order in consultation with heads of law
enforcement agencies in the state.
It
said the decision was taken as part of measures to enable security
agents who did a great job to repel the insurgents’ attack on the town,
to conclude their ongoing assignment.
